La serie propone una mirada viewer-specific: cada imagen existe según quién la mire y desde dónde aprendió a ver. Más que documentar muros, el proyecto pregunta qué consideramos arte y desde qué lugar se construye esa idea.
Entre precariedad e intuición, estas imágenes sugieren otra posibilidad: encontrar belleza en los bordes.
Espectadora Específica is an ongoing series by Carmen Huízar developed in Colotlán, Jalisco, the town where she grew up. Moving as a flâneuse, the artist walks through streets collecting textures: peeling paint, faded signage, humidity, layers of time. These images emerge from the seemingly insignificant. Worn surfaces that accidentally become abstractions. Here, time is the painter — layering, erasing, transforming.
The series proposes a viewer-specific gaze: each image shifts depending on who looks and how they learned to see. Rather than documenting walls, the project questions what we call art and where that idea comes from.
Somewhere between precarity and intuition, the work suggests another horizon: finding beauty at the edges.
