El proyecto opera como una intervención crítica que nombra microviolencias cotidianas y tensiones internas dentro de los movimientos feministas. Con un formato pequeño y una voz contundente, la publicación se convierte en un recordatorio incómodo pero necesario: el feminismo no es homogéneo y sus narrativas también deben ser disputadas.
Very White White Girls is a concise and sharp publication that addresses, through humor and irony, the racial and class hierarchies embedded within contemporary feminist discourse. Using direct and incisive statements, the book questions the speaking position of certain hegemonic feminisms and their tendency to prescribe norms, readings, and behaviors to those who do not share the same privileges.
“Very white —or not so dark— white girls explain extremely interesting things to me. They explain to me how to be a feminist, they tell me what I should read, how to exercise my human rights, my labor rights, my rights as a —not— white woman, they tell me what I should and shouldn't eat.”
The project functions as a critical intervention that exposes everyday microaggressions and internal tensions within feminist movements. In a small-format, bold-voiced publication, it becomes an uncomfortable but necessary reminder: feminism is not homogeneous, and its narratives must also be contested.
